Sam Harper (former IMB missionary to Peru) and Harold Watson (retired IMB missionary who served in the Philippines) have come as volunteers to Nicaragua several times during the past couple of years to help train poor farmers to better care for their animals and land. Harold helped begin a SALT (Sloping Agricultural Land Technology) project in Nicaragua after Hurricane Mitch. When Hurricane Keith came through in October of 2000, the crops that were planted using SALT were unaffected while others were damaged by the hurricane. |
