Prayer
Requests From Our Teams
Updated: March 13, 2001
Cattlemen of Boaco/Chontales
- Pray for safety for Loren and Karen as they travel the sometimes
dangerous roads in their area. Friday, Feb. 16 Loren, pastor
Manuel and his family were arriving in a
town about 50 kilometers from Juigalpa to
help with a struggling church. Suddenly
a taxi rammed into the driver's door. They were startled and
confused and stopped. A man with a pistol walked up to the window
telling them to get out and then two men with AK47's joined him. Not
stopping to question whether they had bullets or not, they obeyed.
This was apparently the 2nd or 3rd crime for these men that day. They
were apparently fleeing from the police and needed 4 wheel drive.
What they did not know was how to engage the 4 wheel drive and shortly got
stuck and the police found the vehicle. The good news is that everyone is
safe. Another example of how the Lord watches over us. Please
pray that God can use this incident to bring glory to Himself and that the
pastor and his wife will not be afraid to be here. (they are
missionaries to this region from San Marcos and a huge asset to the
ministry in this region).
- Pray that those who are being prepared to witness through
Chronological Bible Storying will feel the urgency of telling the Story to
all in Boaco/Chontales.
Urba
n Marginal Communities (UMC) team
- Pray for Omar, Christian, and Jesús as they
lead the new congregations. Pray that they would have vision to lead,
motivation to visit, and passion for lost in their communities.
Nicaraguan Camel Project - Reaching Professionals for Christ
- Please pray for a college group from Henderson
Hills Baptist Church of Edmond, Oklahoma during the week of March 18-25 as
they minister to Nicaraguan university students. They will conduct
surveys, share personal testimonies, witness with bilingual tracts, and
interact with students in the ongoing ESL outreach ministry. They will
also spend Saturday, March 24 at the beach with a large group of
university students. Pray for the Spirit to open the hearts of these
students to see what it really means to know Jesus in a personal, intimate
relationship. They will work with Steve and Mary Waechter, strategy
coordinators for Nicaraguan professionals.
Please pray for continued open doors for the ministry to university
students using free ESL classes. We have an evangelistic Bible study after
every class. Groups meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Monday and
Wednesday afternoons. Students come from several different universities
all around town. Pray for our student leaders to be solidly committed to
this ministry as a means to reach students for Christ. Pray that they
would be bold in sharing their faith. Pray for an intense hunger to know
Jesus personally to break out among Nicaraguan university students.
On one campus where we meet, we recently lost our meeting space and have
begun to meet in the Catholic student center on campus. We would like to
return to meeting in neutral ground and in a location more centrally
located on campus. Please pray that the Lord would turn the hearts and
minds of those in authority to provide us with better meeting space for
our classes.
Thank you for your prayer support!
