Since March 19th this year we have been holding regular weekly Sunday
morning services. We had hoped that we could continue using the university
dorm where the choir from De Soto, Texas led us in our first Baptist
worship service in March. Although we can probably use the building for
one-time special events, we were told we can not use it on a regular basis
as we had hoped. This was a big disappointment and we are praying that the
Lord will make another public place available for weekly use. In the
meantime we are meeting in our home. Eleven different people, not counting
our family, have attended these worship services in our apartment. The
Lord has greatly encouraged us through Paco, a new neighbor whom the Lord
sent to our door, who is an evangelical Christian and plays guitar and
piano! God has also encouraged us through Tomás and Charo, a couple who
have visited our church as a result of our follow-up visit in their home
after the De Soto choir's concert. We praise God for all these people and
the dozens of others we are visiting as we take them their free choir
tapes, get to know them, and offer them the Jesus video. Pray that those
we are visiting would have a hunger to know Jesus.
Our Wednesday night home Bible studies have been going really well. Pray
for Amy & Lucio, Martín, Valentín, Paco and David, the ones who come
regularly. We have been reading the complete Easter story together, using
a harmony of the four Gospel accounts. We have had some fascinating
discussions and questions raised. It has been especially encourging to see
group members answer each other's questions and to see people who used to
be very shy and reserved open up and talk about why Jesus died on the
cross. Pray for each person to come to a bold personal faith in the risen
Saviour.
