Steps to Peace With God
Español
Step 1. God's Purpose: Peace and Life
-
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life--abundant and
eternal.
-
The Bible says...
-
"...we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1
-
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16
-
"...I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more
abundantly." John 10:10b
-
Since God planned for us to have peace and the abundant life right now,
why are most people not having this experience?
Step 2. Our Problem: Separation from God.
-
God himself is Love and He loved us and created us in His own image so
that we to are capable of sincere love. He did not make us as heartless
robots nor does He force us to love Him .True love can never be forced.
He demonstrated his love for us and all mankind when he died for
us on the cross. And He now gives us the freedom of choice so that
we can either accept or reject Christ's love for us. He desires for us
to freely choose to return his love.
-
But we chose for one reason or another not to return God's love.
Instead we have willful decided to ignore Him and disobey his commandments
that would have guided us into a healthier and a closer relationship with
Him. This is what the Bible calls "sin". Sin is anything that ultimately
separates us from others and from God's love for us. Just a when one person
deceives or hurts another person their is an invisible barrier between
them. They don't want to talk to each other or see each other.
They are secretly afraid of each other. In the same way when we know in
our hearts that we have sinned against God we are secretly afraid of him,
we avoid him. there is a invisible barrier of sin between us and God.
And we are not alone in this problem.
-
The Bible Says...
-
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
-
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
-
Our choice results in separation from God. But since God, our creator is
also the one who gives us life, we soon discover that we are separated
from our source of abundant and eternal life. We find there is a
gap between us a God, which we don't know how to repair. Like a cut
flower cut off from its root, our sins like a knife, have cut us off from
God, our source of life. As the Bible says the wages, the ultimate payment,
for sin is death. No one likes to face the reality: that he or she too
must perish and die. Throughout history men and women
have done everything in their power to prolong their lives and avoid death.
If they could somehow reconnect themselves to their source of life.
If they could bridge the gap and reach God.
Our Attempts . . .
-
Through the ages, individuals have tried in many ways to bridge this gap
. . . without success.
-
The Bible says...
-
"There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end it leads to death."
Proverbs 14:12
-
"But your iniquities have separated you from God; and your sins have hidden
His face from you, so that He will not hear." Isaiah 59:2
-
There is only one remedy for this problem of separation.
Step 3. God's Remedy - The Cross of Christ
-
Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem. He died on the Cross and
rose from the grave, paying the penalty for our sin and bridging the gap
from God to people.
-
The Bible Says...
-
"...God is on one side and all the people on the other side, and Christ
Jesus, Himself man, is between them to bring them together..." 1 Timothy
2:5
-
"For Christ also has suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that
He might bring us to God..." 1 Peter 3:18a.
-
"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still
sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8.
-
God has provided the only way. . . We must make the choice.
Step 4. Our Response: Receive Christ
-
We must trust Jesus Christ and receive Him by personal invitation.
-
The Bible Says...
-
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens
the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me." Revelation
3:20
-
"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children
of God, even to those who believe in His name." John 1:12
-
"...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart
that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
-
How to receive Christ
-
Admit you are separated from God, your source of live (I am a sinner).
-
Be willing to turn to God away from your sins (repent).
-
Believe that Jesus Christ loved you so much that died for you on the Cross
to take away your sins that have separated you from God
-
Believe Jesus rose from the grave with resurrection (eternal) life..
-
Know that Jesus loves you and wants to reunite you with God and to give
you eternal life.
-
Through prayer, accept Jesus' love for you. Invite Jesus Christ to
come in to your life. Ask him to give you eternal life. Receive Jesus
and his gift of eternal life.
-
Is there any good reason why you cannot receive Jesus Christ right now?
What to Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I know you loved me long
before I loved you. I want to accept and return your love. I open
the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and my Lord. Thank
you for forgiving all my sins on the cross. I believe that you rose
from the dead and are alive today. I ask you to reveal yourself to
me and give me your free gift of eternal life. I invite you into
my life. Please come and take control of life and make me the person
you want me to be in my thoughts, my words and my actions. Thank
you that you will never leave or reject me.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
God's Assurance: His Word.
If you prayed this prayer, the Bible says. . .
-
"For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Then where is
He right now? What difference does it make if you have Jesus in your life?
The Bible says. . .
-
"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God
does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the
name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life,
and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." 1
John 5:12-13, NKJV
According to this Bible promise, if you have received Jesus the Son of
God, what do you also have? "He who has the Son has life!" What
kind of life does Jesus give you? The apostle John wrote this "that
you may know that you have eternal life" Eternal life is the same
resurrection life that Jesus had when he rose from the dead. Jesus
has given you his eternal resurrection life. Thank him for his gift
of salvation.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this
is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no
one can boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen
this relationship you should:
-
Read your Bible prayerfully every day especially the New Testament to get
to know and to love Jesus Christ better..
-
Talk to Jesus in prayer every day. Prayer is simply talking to Jesus.
-
Tell others about Christ.
-
Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where
Christ is preached and the Bible is studied.
-
As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life
by your love and concern for others. Listen to him and he will make your
life a blessing to others.
To receive Jesus Christ is the most important decision of your life.
You have chosen were you will spend eternity. If you have received
Jesus Christ the Son of God you now have eternal life and you will "dwell
in the house of the Lord forever!!" (Psalm 23) In other words you
can know that you are going to heaven, because of God's clear promises
to you throughout the Bible -his Eternal Word.
If you made this wonderful decision for Christ, please send us a
note to our family. Just say,
"I accepted Jesus Christ" on the subject line of your message. We will
rejoice with you, pray for you and would be very glad to answer any
questions you may have.
