The International Mission Board has Southern Baptist missionaries working with several sub-groups among the Fulani. The missionaries on this site work mostly with the bororro Fulani in Nigeria. These Fulani are often migratory or semi-migratory. They also strongly emphasize their traditions and characteristic lifestyle.

Let us tell you about some of our
approaches to ministry

We emphasize several approaches:

Nigerian Co-workers

Other agencies and missionaries

>> Hospitality << We culture relationships with Fulani people as a means to open doors to the Gospel
>> Cultural Independence << We speak Fulfulde, the Fulani language. We try to establish ministries the Fulani can maintain if we have to leave. We encourage Fulani believers to reach out to other Fulanis and not enter into dependent relationships with missionaries.
>> Chronological Storying << This is telling the stories of the Bible as God revealed Himself in His Word. Over a period of months, the storyteller shares the Scriptures in a way illiterate people can learn and remember. This communicates the Gospel and builds the habit of meeting together.
>> Audio cassettes << We use cassette tapes to get the Gospel message to areas that we cannot reach otherwise. Most Fulanis are illiterate and cannot read the Bible or a tract. However, most Fulanis families have a cassette player
>> The Jesus Movie << We use this very good, Scriptural movie to plant the seeds of the message of Jesus with groups of Fulanis.

Our general approach is to do whatever it takes to see viable, reproducing, indigenous churches planted among the Fulani People.
