Our Province
|
Extremadura consists of two provinces: Cáceres and Badajoz, each named after their largest capital city.
We live in the in Cáceres, the capital city of the northern half of Extremadura. Extremadura is crossed by two rivers flowing east to west: the Tajo in Cáceres and the Guadiana in Badajoz. There are three mountain ranges running east and west across Extremadura: the Gredos range is the highest in northern Cáceres (on the boarder with Salamanca), the Guadalupe range in the eastern central Extremadura, and the Sierra Morena range in the southern Badajoz on the boarder with Andalucia. The highest mountains in the northern Cáceres are snow covered in wintertime. The landscape is similar in many ways to the American Southwest (New Mexico) with long vistas and mountains.
